Lylah Schmedel-Permanna

Lylah (lie-liuh) is the Managing Editor at the award-winning student publication, The Citizen, where she focuses on investigative journalism for the Peralta Community College District in the Bay Area. She holds a B.A. from UC Davis and currently studies journalism at Laney College, after years working as a law clerk in civil rights, employment, and immigration law. She also serves as a production intern for The History of the Bay Podcast, which covers local Bay Area culture and history. Lylah is currently most passionate about holding California Community College officials accountable to the communities they serve and monitoring the investment of tax payer dollars in education.
